This webinar updated the Daring Cities community, especially leaders, about the outcomes of UNFCCC COP29 where several Daring Cities leaders made valuable interventions. It is now more crucial than ever for local and regional governments to understand how the outcomes of COP29 can advance the climate emergency response in their communities and what they can do to act. Participants heard firsthand insights from a local government leader who attended COP29, sharing key takeaways and priority actions for 2025. To support this, the webinar also featured a special focus on climate action and governance in Brazil, building on the country’s NDC3.0, which was submitted to the UNFCCC during COP29, which prominently referred to “climate federalism.” Additionally, the progress of the CHAMP initiative was reviewed, with insights from the LGMA Constituency on its ongoing developments. This webinar contextualized the critical role of local and regional governments in 2025, setting the stage for action through the Town Hall COPs initiative.
