Funding nature-based solutions in cities: Land based finance to get the job done
As cities need to adapt to climate change, they are focusing on Nature-based Solutions (NbS) such as restoring wetlands in built-up areas. These solutions can be costly, but the benefits for the environment can shadow the scale of investment. However, local governments face constraints in implementing NbS, especially in terms of securing land and funding. This session will explore the potential of Land-based Financing (LBF) to overcome constraints and challenges in this regard. Using short technical inputs and implementation examples, the potential of LBF for implementing key components of the climate agenda will be illustrated.
